Getting Started

Memories are off until you allow them.

What it keeps about you is listed under SettingsMemories, where you can edit or delete every line.

Set the effort.

Adaptive is the everyday setting, Fast is great for chatting or quick info, and High runs longer for your hardest tasks.

Tap the model name in the composer, or open SettingsGeneral.

Search the web is on from the start.

When the model looks something up, the lookup goes to DuckDuckGo and the pages it finds are read. Switch this off under SettingsCapabilities Search the web if you want nothing to leave the phone for a lookup.

Choose a mind.

Open SettingsModels. Flint is the everyday mind — quick on any supported iPhone. Basalt is slower and fuller, for a long conversation, and needs a 12 GB iPhone. Each downloads once from Hugging Face, then runs entirely on this phone.

It can be wrong.

Foundation is generative AI and can be wrong. Do not use it for medical, legal, or financial advice.

A model will not load.

Open SettingsGeneralUnload model and clear cache.

That stops everything and hands the memory back. The next message loads the model again from scratch, which fixes most of it.

An answer looks wrong.

Replies can be wrong. If the pages it read were about the wrong subject, the search went astray rather than the model. Check anything that matters.

It seems stuck.

While it works, a line under the reply says whether it is searching or summing up. The stop button in the composer ends generation on this chat.

The app closed on its own, or a model would not load.

Send us a crash report. Foundation runs best on iPhone 15 and up, but crashes may happen with long chat threads (Context Windows) or involved tasks.
